A child’s first dental visit is a crucial milestone in his/her growing up. It is generally recommended that a child be seen by a dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in.
Our Pediatruc Dentist Dr. Pratibha Kukreja Pandit will perform a routine dental exam during the first visit. She will chat with the child and talk to him/her about the significance of good oral health. Our friendly staff will make you and your child comfortable during the visit.
You can ask the doctor all your queries and doubts regarding your child’s oral care habits during the visit. Dr. Pratibha’s positivity and compassion make any child’d first dental visit happy and memorable!
What Happens At Your Infant's First Dental Visit
If you come in with your infant who has just begun the teething process, our Paediatric Dentist Dr. Pratibha Kukreja Pandit will examine the baby’s mouth first. She will then guide you about:
- Baby bottles and how they are affecting your child’s teeth
- Infant feeding practices
- Mouth cleaning
- Teething
- Pacifier habits
- Finger-sucking habits
This visit can make the teething process easier and comparatively pain-free for the baby.
What Happens At Your Child's First Dental Visit
In case you visit us for the first when the child is a little older, then we have the following tips for you:
- Talk to the child beforehand about his/her first visit to the dentist. Walk them through what will take place at the clinic (a routine dental check-up)
- If possible play a dentist and patient role-play game with him/her to make them comfortable with the idea.
- Ensure that the child is well-rested and well-fed before the appointment.
- Talk to us about any psychological or health issues we need to be aware of in advance.
- Keep your body language calm and do not convey anxiety to the child. It is important for you and the child to have a positive frame of mind when you bring them for a first visit.

Dr. Pratibha has trained at the prestigious Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, in advanced areas including Pediatric dental treatment under General Anesthesia and Intravenous sedation, Dental Rehabilitation of children with special health care needs, and Nasoalveolar molding and dental rehabilitation of cleft lip and cleft palate.
She’s the lifetime member of Student Clinician Association, American Dental Association (SCADA), USA.
